The proposed pedestrian bridge attached to Cannon Street railway bridge has been given the go-ahead by Mayor of London Ken Livingstone.
The covered Jubilee Bridge, which will be on the upstream side and equipped with observation towers, meets the aims and objectives of the Mayor's Spatial Development and Transport Strategies by promoting walking in London and encouraging public access along and across the river.
"I'm delighted to give my support to this exciting new structure" says the Mayor.
Project founder Bill Higgins says that there is no need to build into the river.
