Police were called to London Road, close to St George's Circus, at 2.20pm on Friday, to reports of a bus in collision with a pedestrian.

The air ambulance landed nearby but the injured man was taken to hospital by road ambulance.

London Road was closed for several hours after the incident, leading to traffic congestion around the Elephant & Castle area.

The bus involved was a double-decker operated by Go-Ahead London Central and based at Camberwell garage.
