Police have launched a murder enquiry following the discovery of a woman's body in Mill Street on Tuesday morning.
Police were called at 7.15am by a member of the public to the flat, following concern that the resident had not been in contact with her family.
At the address, police found the body of a 50 year old woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem on Wednesday at Westminster Mortuary revealed the cause of death to be manual strangulation.
As a result of further enquiries, MPS officers contacted Devon and Cornwall Constabulary on Tuesday. Local officers later attended an address in Feock, near Truro in Cornwall, in the early hours of 21 May where they found the body of a 51 year old man.
Police believe that they know the identity of the dead woman but not all next of kin have been made aware.
The investigation is being led by MPS Serious Crimes Directorate south under DI Andy Redwood. The incident room number is 020 8247 8932.
DI Redwood said: "At this stage, we believe the two incidents are linked. However, we are keeping an open mind and investigating all matters."
Officers from the Met have travelled to Cornwall to liaise with local police.
