Flood at City Hall

The ninth floor of riverside City Hall is closed after heat from the kitchens triggered the fire sprinkler system.

The Mayor of London's headquarters suffered the deluge because once the sprinklers are turned on they cannot be stopped from operating until the emergency tanks are empty.

It is expected that some arriving for work may be prevented from using in the building until after the weekend.
