Canon Gary Jenkins, currently vicar of Holy Trinity Redhill, has been been appointed as the new priest-in-charge of St Anne's Church in Thorburn Square and its sister church, St James's in Thurland Road.
He succeeds Revd Stewart Hartley who retires in early September after nine years in Bermondsey and 20 years of ministry in Nelson in Lancashire.
Canon Jenkins will be installed in December as priest-in-charge of the two parishes with the intention that he should be appointed as vicar when the legal process to combine the parishes into a single entity is completed.
