Businesses in Waterloo and Southwark are being targetted in a licence check by the TV Licensing authority.
"More companies than ever before in South London have a television at work" says a TV Licensing spokesperson. "But our research shows that many businesses may not be properly licensed.
"Often, this is because people at work think someone else is responsible for buying the TV licence, but in the end no one does."
Restaurants, offices and shops are being targetted in the licence check by the TV Licensing authority.
Businesses discovered by visiting enquiry officers to be without a licence could face a court appearance and a fine of up to £1,000.
