Premier Inn has been revealed as the operator of a controversial new hotel planned for Borough High Street.
Last year councillors approved plans by King's College London for the demolition of a row of historic shops, offices and warehouses in Borough High Street.
The buildings to be knocked down include the former hop warehouse at 129 Borough High Street, best known for its Shoefayre shopfront.
Last year King's College said it would seek a low-cost hotel operator for the scheme. The college said that the hotel would provide useful accommodation for academics visiting nearby Guy's campus.
Now Premier Inn has applied to the council for consent to add its branding to the approved scheme.
