Police and the ambulance service were called to the junction of Southwark Street and Southwark Bridge Road at about 2.25pm on Friday after a collision between an articulated lorry and a Barclays Cycle Hire bicycle.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with minor injuries, said a police spokesman.

The articulated lorry involved in the collision belongs to the Hanson cement company.

The collision took place where Southwark Street crosses the blue paint of Cycle Superhighway 7 on Southwark Bridge Road.

This week Transport for London announced plans to introduce an experimental 20 mph speed limit on Southwark Street.
