A prisoner custody officer injured at Blackfriars Crown Court on Monday has died in hospital.

London's Air Ambulance landed in Tabard Gardens after the incident at the Pocock Street court on Monday lunchtime.

On Thursday it was confirmed that Lorraine Barwell, 54, who worked for Serco as a prisoner custody officer, had died in hospital.

22-year-old Humphrey Burke of no fixed abode appeared in custody at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with grevious bodily harm.

He was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on 15 July.
