Traffic on New Kent Road was delayed during Wednesday morning's rush hour due to a fire at a kebab shop near Elephant & Castle

Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to the fire at Sonny's Kebabs and Chicken under the railway bridge.

No-one was injured in the fire which affected the ducting of the shop's extraction system.

Firefighters from Dowgate, Old Kent Road, Lambeth and Peckham fire stations attended the incident.

The brigade was called at 5.45am and the fire was under control at 7.52am.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

In 2011 Sonny's Kebabs and Chicken was featured in Patrick Dalton's Shit London book.
