British Transport Police officers are appealing for information regarding an alleged racially aggravated assault on board a train between London Bridge and Brighton.

The incident happened on Friday 29 April at 3pm.

According to BTP officers, the train was crowded when two women boarded. They began pushing another passenger out of the way and one of them was being racially abusive.

One of the women then pushed the female passenger in the chest. The two women left the train at East Croydon.

PC Peter Taylor said: "I am keen to speak to anyone who was travelling on that service and who may have witnessed the incident.

Everyone has the right to travel on the rail network without fear of intimidation.

"If you have any information please get on touch by calling 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 quoting crime reference 165 of 10/05/16."
