Spokeswoman for the London SE1 Postal Service Campaign Hat Margolies appeared on GMTV on Tuesday morning with Peter Carr, chairman of Postwatch.
Postwatch – the independent watchdog – has issued a study which shows that more than 14 million items of mail are lost every year in Britain, more than 50 percent of them simply put through the wrong door.
The survey found that 54 percent of people had received misdelivered mail in the past six months.
A spokesman for the Royal Mail told The Times that the company estimated that 8.5 million letters were lost every year through misdelivery – less than half the amount two years ago.
