SE1's two cathedrals, Lambeth Palace and a parish church all took part in 'Red Wednesday' to highlight the plight of those who are persecuted for their faith.
The Red Wednesday campaign – run by Aid to the Church in Need and Christian Solidarity Worldwide – invites people to stand in solidarity with persecuted Christians and faith minorities who suffer unjustly for their peacefully-held beliefs.
A red bus toured the capital, starting at the Anglican Southwark Cathedral before heading to St George's Cathedral and other landmarks around the city.
In the evening, Southwark Cathedral, the Church of the Most Precious Blood in O'Meara Street and Lambeth Palace were all illuminated with red light.
