Il Covo and Southwark Mysteries are running a series of free drama workshops, offering young people new ways of relating to the history and culture of Southwark.
Our Place is a series of five free drama workshops for young people aged 8-12. It's a fun way to find out about the place we live, and to tell our own stories about growing up in Southwark.
The workshops will use story-telling, guided walks, theatre games, music and dance. They will help young people to develop their personal and social skills, building self-confidence and the ability to express their feelings about their own life experiences.
The workshops take place on Saturday afternoons 3-5pm on 15 & 22 May and 5, 12 & 19 June at Il Covo, Charterhouse Young People's Centre, Crosby Row, London SE1.
Family and friends are invited to join the group on a guided walk around SE1 (5 June) and for a short presentation of the young people's work (19 June).
To book a place for the free workshops, please contact: Il Covo: 020 7378 7491 or John Constable: 020 7403 1496 or e-mail [email protected]
The Our Place workshops are led by John Constable (Southwark Mysteries), a local writer and experienced drama tutor, working with an Il Covo assistant.
The workshops are supported by the Pool of London Partnership (PLP) Small Grants Fund in association with PricewaterhouseCoopers. The project also gratefully acknowledges the assistance of Charterhouse-in-Southwark and West Bermondsey Community Forum.
