Cold food & swearing waitresses
My friend and I visited this establishment last night. We ordered their Phad Thai and a Red Curry with steamed rice. No sooner had the waitress taken our order than the food was delivered to our table (less than 2 minutes). Upon tasting both dishes, we realised the food was not hot, nor was it even warm, it was barely above room temperature. We attempted to get the attention of the waitress and several other members of staff, who seemed more concerned about stopping trick or treaters from entering the restaurant, than attending to us. When they finally came over, several minutes later, they refused to accept our complaint. They said the food had been sitting there for a while, to which we responded we had been trying to get their attention for some time and had not eaten any, other than 1 bite to discover it had not been cooked to an appropriate temperature. We asked for fresh dishes to be provided, knowing that re-heated rice is one of the most common causes of food poisoning, but they refused.

Upon standing up to leave, without haven eaten, the waitress said in a raised voice, "stop f**king complaining our food is f**king hot". Not wanting to cause more of a scene, we left, but needless to say we will never go there again.

I was appalled with the customer service, not to mention the dangers of serving cold re-heated food.

Bad service
I normally bang on about how great Suchard Thai Restaurant is. When Suchard himself ran the place with his family it was excellent - great food and great service.

However, the last 2 times I have eaten there the staff have been decidedly rude. Also, on both occasion, food and other items have been literally thrown on the table. The food is still pretty good but, if you read this Suchard, get round to the place and sort out the staff - I know your pub takes up most of your time but it's a shame that rude staff are making dining at your restaurant a less than pleasant experience.

I am now recommending Lye Torng Thai Restaurant and Bar as the best all round Thai eatery in SE1 - sorry Suchard.

Good Thai Food
Had lunch with girls from the office today, very tasty and lots of spice. One of the girls had Pad Thai, she said is was reall nice. The service is quick, although once you have eaten they want your table!!!!
6 out of ten...not bad
the food at suchard thai is ok but it has been rather diluted for english tastes, all the usual thai-style dishes on the menu although portions were rather small
Superb
I love this place. Had a meal there last night - 2 starters and 2 main courses (Thai Green Curry - yum) and 2 drinks - came to £26. The food is always good, the service is superb - what more can you want?
Great food, cheap chopsticks
I've been finding excuses to dine there -- and take friends there -- for years now. It's crowded @ lunchtime for a reason!
The food's tasty, but do take along your own chopsticks (if you're thus gifted) since the only ones on offer are those dinky stubby rough wooden type you must break apart to use. Fav. starter: chicken bits on wooden skewers with peanut sauce. Mmmmm.= Johnny W Long =
Tasty...yes Clean...unfortunately not
Suchard is indeed quick, tasty and cheap and I used to eat there fairly often...and then I looked them up on scores on the doors. They only score 1 star for their food hygiene and until that improves I for one will not be returning.
Old Faithful
Living on Bermondsey Street I should feel spoilt for choice but sometimes I just want good simple food and that is where Suchard always comes into the picture. Fast friendly service, decent prices and tasty offerings make it a local favourite.
