More than 300 children from nursery, primary and secondary schools from across Southwark will make the stage at Shakespeare’s Globe their own at the annual Concert for Winter.
Each year Shakespeare’s Globe celebrates the Southwark community through music and song, and in keeping with the theme of this year’s event – Southwark Get Together – the school choirs will be joined by members of the Southwark Metropolitan Police Community Choir and staff members from Shakespeare’s Globe.
Among the schools taking part are Brunswick Park Primary School, Charles Dickens Primary School, English Martyrs RC Primary School, Oliver Goldsmith Primary School, Rotherhithe Primary School, Southwark Park Primary School, Spa Special School, St James the Great Primary School and Surrey Square Primary School.
The concert will also feature members of Globe Education’s three Southwark Youth Theatre groups, who have spent the current term developing their skills and rehearsing for the performance. It will mean a return to the Globe stage for some of the members of the 8 – 11 age group Youth Theatre who this year performed in The Merry Wives of Windsor, one of the main productions in the Globe’s 2010 theatre season.
