Apple and Pear

A new installation by emerging artist Johann Arens.

A cross dissolve in film; a gradual transition from one image to another; never appears without reason. It is the melting and merging of two components of unlike nature; forcing a mismatching pair that you would not find together in any other way.

Originally built by British Telecom as its South London headquarters, Erlang House today plays host to an art organisation. The on-site installation 'Apple and Pear' is a systematic and sculptural analysis of the mechanisms of this transformation. The past and the architecture of the location are superimposed with the unadorned re-appropriation of art.
