Local school children from Southwark and neighbouring boroughs will be giving the market's regular traders a run for their money when they set up stalls with their own seasonal produce grown and nurtured from seed.
The pupils learned their green-fingered techniques from the best in the business, Blue Peter gardener, Chris Collins. They have been working very hard tending their crops and learning exactly how food goes from seed, to marketplace, to plate.
All the proceeds from the pupils' veg sales will be donated to FareShare, an award winning charity which seeks to relieve food poverty by rescuing good food that would otherwise go to waste.
