Nick Hall presents 'The Good, the Bad and the Weird'

Quirky characters from history

History's boring right? It's all about Henry VIII and the Second World War. In fact, history has a vast cast of characters that you've probably never heard of, or at least never gotten round to 'googling'.

In this show comedian and writer Nick Hall lifts the lid on a treasure trove of forgotten people and fascinating stories from history - the princes and politicians, explorers and spies, actors and musicians, scientists, and inventors, sportspersons and kick-ass feminists, from around the world - each with their own claim to fame or secret to be revealed.

Ever heard about the World War Two spy with a wooden leg, the Egyptian Queen who dressed like a man, the Mexican war that started because of a pastry chef, the Indian hockey player offered a job by Hitler, the ji-j Itsu suffragette, the Hollywood actress who invented Bluetooth, the Danish scientist who burst his bladder, the German Knight with the robot hand, the sword-fighting French opera singer, the geologist who ate the heat of a king, or the top hat inventor who caused a riot?
