Bermondsey Farmers' Market is to continue on Saturday mornings in Bermondsey Square under new management.
We reported last month that London Farmers' Markets, the company which established the Saturday morning market in Bermondsey Square in November 2009, had announced that it was seeking a new Bermondsey location for the market having been unable to agree an affordable rent with Igloo, the property developers who have transformed the square.
In an email sent to customers just before Christmas, LFM said: "The last farmers' market we will operate on site will be on Christmas Eve. However, we understand that a market will continue in the New Year. We wish the market all the best for the future and thank you all for your support."
References to the Bermondsey market has now been removed from the LFM website and the market's Facebook page has been deleted.
The London SE1 website understands that the market will resume on Saturday 7 January and will be directly managed by Igloo.
Many of the regular stallholders, including Galileo Organic Farm, will continue to trade at Bermondsey Square on Saturday mornings.
On 23 December we invited Igloo's representatives to comment on their plans for the future of the market but no response has been received; this story will be updated if they provide a statement.
