A 34-metre extension to London Eye Millennium Pier was installed on Friday morning to create an extra berth for cruise boats.
The extension, by marine engineers (and designers of the original pier) Beckett Rankine, will provide a berth for the London Eye Barracuda (formerly Silver Barracuda) which was acquired by Merlin Entertainments, owners of the observation wheel, a year ago.
More than 600,000 passengers a year use London Eye Millennium Pier (previously known as Waterloo Millennium Pier) and the extension is expected to bring an extra 73,000 passengers each year.
The Barracuda is available for private hire and hospitality cruises.
