Keyworth Street was closed to traffic and pedestrians on Tuesday and Wednesday after a metal baton fell from the top of a nine-storey university building.
Southwark Council ordered the closure of the street after the solar shading came loose from the top of London South Bank University's Keyworth Centre.
The council has instructed LSBU to dismantle the rest of the 'brise soleil' before the street is reopened.
It is thought that the building was damaged in last week's high winds.
The Keyworth Centre was designed by BDP and completed in 2002.
