A male motorcyclist has died after a collision in Borough High Street during Monday morning's rush hour.
The motorcyclist collided with a car close to Southwark Police Station.
The victim's next of kin have been informed.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is co-operating with the police investigation which is being led by officers from the Met's roads and transport command.
Simon Hughes, MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark, said: "Another death on Southwark roads is a dreadful start to the New Year and our thoughts are with the person who died and their family.
"It would be wrong to comment in detail until we all know all the facts. But the obvious message is clear – roads are dangerous places, particularly for pedestrians and cyclists, but also for other road users. Everybody should treat every other road user with respect."
