A new shop in Tower Bridge Road specialising in climbing equipment has been forced to close less than a fortnight after opening.

Tower Bridge Road climbing shop burgled just days after opening

Cold Mountain Kit opened earlier this month on the corner of Tower Bridge Road and Swan Mead, but burglars struck on Friday night.

The shop's staff have appealed for people to look out for cheap climbing gear being sold on the black market.

They posted this message on Facebook:

"Cold Mountain Kit were broken in to on Friday night and they've taken a load of climbing hardware (All our cams, carabiners, ice axes, ice screws, quickdraws, slings) as well as our work and rescue products (all hardware plus various helmets and specialist work and rescue hardware).

"Please please please keep an eye out on eBay or other sites for people selling cheap kit and call us or the police immediately if you come across anything suspicious.

"The shop will be closed until further notice, thanks for your understanding and support.

"Please share this as much as possible.

"Many thanks, Cold Mountain Kit; Alex, Catherine, Megan and Jon"
