Charles Kennedy visits Southwark’s Cathedral School

Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy visited Southwark's Cathedral School on Thursday afternoon directly after addressing a meeting at Bloomberg in the City.

He was outlining a major shake-up of his party's spending plans which he says could save the UK £25bn over a full parliament and benefit schools.

Charles Kennedy was welcomed at the school by Headteacher Sylvia Morris and Southwark Council Leader Nick Stanton.

During his brief visit he dropped into a music class and chatted with some teachers.

Afterwards the Liberal Leader visited Little Dorrit Park along with Nick Stanton and Southwark's Deputy Leader Caroline Pidgeon.

• This year the Cathedral School in Redcross Way is celebrating its 300th anniversary.
