Lower Marsh and The Cut: Britain’s best high street?

Waterloo's high street is competing against Myddleton Road in Haringey and Romford town centre in the Government-backed Great British High Street competition.

"We are delighted but not surprised that Lower Marsh & The Cut have been shortlisted as one of the best high streets in the UK," said Ben Stephenson, chief executive of WeAreWaterloo BID.

"Seeing how hard our shopkeepers, publicans, restaurateurs and hairdressers work is an inspiration and we are urging everyone to vote for them in support."

Winners in each category will share a prize pot worth £100,000 and receive social media training from Google and Twitter.

Locals are encouraged to vote for their high street at http://thegreatbritishhighstreet.co.uk/finalist-london – voting closes on Sunday 19 November.

An expert judging panel will also visit Waterloo to cast a critical eye over Lower Marsh and The Cut.
