The long-awaited Sainsbury's supermarket in New Kent Road finally opened its doors last week.
Pupils from Crampton Primary School performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday 11 January.
The store had been due to open in December but the launch was delayed after problems with access for delivery vehicles.
The new Sainsbury's store is the de-facto replacement for the nearby Tesco Metro which will close when Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre is demolished.
The new supermarket is Sainsbury's first branch in SE1 larger than a 'Local' store.
Features include a fresh pizza counter and a range of electrical goods.
Sainsbury's at 40 New Kent Road SE1 is open Monday-Saturday 7am to 10pm and on Sundays 11am to 5pm.
