The Gladstone Arms pub in Lant Street - which closed down last October - is to reopen this spring under the name Pegz N "Frazes".
Entrepreneurs Megha Khanna, Gaurav Khanna and Abhinav Saxena will reopen the pub under the name Pegz N “Frazes” at The Gladstone Arms.
The name refers to shots (or pegz) of alcohol and words (or "frazes") of reassurance shared between the three friends.
Megha Khanna said: “We wanted to create a brand that provides people with a unique service, to preserve the heritage of London pubs and promote the local breweries.
"We also wanted to create a place where guests can experience a winning combination of great drinks, live music and buzzing atmosphere.”
The threat to the future of the Gladstone Arms came to light in summer 2015 when the building's owners lodged a planning application to replace the pub with a 10-storey block of flats.
The pub was registered as an Asset of Community Value under the Localism Act but the Government rejected an attempt to secure listed status for the building.
A newly created conservation area – the Liberty of the Mint – protects the pub from any immediate demolition threat.
What do you think of the pub's new name?
