I've been to this pub twice since it opened and think it's a worthwhile addition to the neighbourhood. It's a fairly big change from the Charles Dickens that was on the site before, with the room extended backwards, panelled, and covered in rurally-themed tat. Unusually, and to be welcomed, there are coat hooks for hanging coats and hats.

Good beer - heavy on the craft beer, but more than enough real ale to keep me happy. Last time, there was Jaipur IPA, a delicious oatmeal stout from transpontine London, and something lovely and a bit more suitable for session drinking.

The first time I went, the bar was quiet (10pm on a Monday). The staff were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Last Tuesday was much busier, but the staff were friendly and efficient. On the first visit, I was told that the panelling was from a Welsh pub and that Dylan Thomas drank in the snug.

The food is reasonably-priced Thai. No surprise there, given its owners.

The only thing I can fault the pub on is the music. I'd normally prefer none, but recognise that seems to be a minority position these days. The music's volume is reasonably pitched but on both occasions it's been consistently, mainstream Oirish - Van Morrison, U2, Pogues, Thin Lizzy, etc. If this theme is necessary, t could do with more variety - perhaps some Camille O'Sullivan, Christie Moore, or Damien Dempsey.
