Reviews of Cantina del Ponte

We went back to Cantina del Ponte to see if our last experience would be repeated. We were a group of 4 on a very busy Saturday night. And everything was excellent: the service, the food and even the price (on the Evening Standard deal which sadly has finished!)

We went back to Cantina del Ponte after an absence of several years - what a pleasant surprise! The food and service were was excellent and it was well priced for such high quality. We'll be back for sure - and we won't wait several years this time!

Having eaten here once a couple of years ago before moving to SE1 we thought we would give it a try again. big mistake.

Busy with tourists on a Thursday evening but the outside tables can be close to a noisy serving area.

Very standard Med/italian menu

Beef carpacio was tough and tasteless, swordfish a bit more tasty, but I wasn't keen.

Spicy prawns - tough and soggy at the same time (if that's possible) and six small king prawns for £18 is taking the mick......

Wine - a 500ml carafe for £16 was poor value for the quality.

I refused to pay the service charge on two course meal for two at over £80, especially when my wife found they had added a pound to one of the dishes.

There are many many better places in SE1, almost anywhere in Bermondsey St for a start.
We shall not be back.
