Wine served in half pint glass
Not many pubs left in Bermondsey now but somehow The Ship aground dockhead is still going, on my last visit the pub was almost empty I don't know how they afford to pay the electric bill let alone anything else, the toilets need a good clean no soap or hand wash! Drinks served in wrong and dirty glasses, rude bar staff food was dreadful, blue stripe..
I would not recommend this pub to anyone unless you want depression it really is that bad.
A regular Bermondsey pub
I'm not a regular in this pub, but if you fancy a beer, or a vodka and tonic it's not a bad place to visit.
It's what pubs used to be like in Bermondsey, a haven for local people to hang out and put the world to rights.
I've never encountered any rude staff in there, they've always seemed okay to me.
Colour me old fashioned, but as a Peckham girl, transplanted to Rotherhithe, I tend to attach no credence to reviewers who spell seem as seam, or know as no, and as an alumni of Peckham Girls Comprehensive, (The Manor), I'm no Glenda Jackson myself.
Good local pub
If you are looking for a place to take young children - don't bother. Looking for a romantic night out - find somewhere else. However, if you are looking for a solid Bermondsey drinking pub full of friendly locals and no tourists - give this place a try.
One of the worst in SE1?
Agree with review on May 11th 09 - a strange place, wierd vibe and bar staff/owner definitely not cool!!! Plenty of better places to go in this area.
Rude staff
beware after 5.30 the staff change over and she is very rude no please or thank you.. slam the drinks down on the bar unless the old girl had the hump that night..well been in there a few times now that seams to be her attitude.. will not be going back she should'nt be working in a bar if she cant be polite and thats the manager, dont no what ice is or lemon toilets dirty and smelly glasses dirty brandy served in a tall slim glass well that says it all
sorry not recommend this place
