We arrived at about 10pm on Saturday and straight away the delicious smells were an encouraging sign.
A large plate of complimentary prawn crackers landed on our table quite quickly. For our mains, we stuck to the black bean dishes (duck and beef) and these were delicious. We shared a king prawn rice, which was plenty for the two of us.
All the portions were generous, including the spring roll starters, and there were eight large prawns in the rice.
We would have tried dessert but we just couldn't fit it in. But they brought us a complimentary dish of chilled orange and lychees which was perfect.
Service was friendly and down to earth and even the bathroom was very clean!
In short, it's great food, generous portions and friendly service.
The area needs places like this so please at least give it a try.
The food is fantastic, authentic chinese cuisine. The best chinese restaurant in the area and perhaps in London (I have eaten at a few).
Takeaway is also very impressive.
Highly recommended
Went there for dinner on Wednesday evening and the food was very good - freshly cooked, tasty & well presented. The seafood dishes were all half-price so I took the plunge & ordered the mussels in black bean sauce, which was very good. I also ordered off menu and had a dish of perfectly cooked choi sum (greens).
Extensive menu with lots of unusual dishes (tripe etc) as well as the usual English favorites (sweet & sour pork etc). Service was very polite. I would happily dine there again or try their takeout service, and recommend other SE1'ers to give it a try.
