Terrible service
Just back from a lovely stroll around Borough Market which was spoiled by a visit to Patisserie Lila. I went in with my buggy an ordered a cake an was about to sit outside when the waitress told me i had to fold my buggy. I told her i couldn't as the baby was in it and she just said 'sorry' - i.e - leave then!! there was a sum total of two other people in the cafe and one was leaving. I asked her if she was expecting a lot of people and she said yes. How very rude!
hard-stones macaroons
Cafe Lila is a very pretty spot very close to London Bridge.
The cakes and pastry look delicious and I hope they are....but the macaroons are a completely different story!
Although we were made to believe that they were fresh, they were hard like stones! When this was pointed out to the owner of the place and when we demonstrated that the sweets were not eatable, we received a very bad and not professional reaction with the owner asking us not to purchase macaroons from the shop ever again!
Very bad experience when the only thing we wanted to so was warning her that her products do not taste as nice as they should.
Very child-unfriendly and rude
Unfortunately we didn't even get to sit down in this awful establishment as they have a 'no children' policy.

We went in with 8 month old baby asleep in pushchair, cafe was not very busy and there was plenty of room to park the buggy next to an available table but we were asked to leave before we could sit down!

I was astounded at their rudeness - do they not allow wheelchair users either? What about guide dogs? Utterly disgusting and rude.

Ripped-off by nasty people
This place is a good example for how a seriously bad place can still make good business: Because the “The Patisserie Lila” is conveniently located near the bustling, fashionable Borough Market, passer-bys will always be lured in - just like it happened to us. Once inside, however, we experienced a service that could hardly have been worse: As we were “only two people”, the sour-faced waitress asked us to join people at another table - which surprised us but it did not put us off. When we had a look at the menu, we were a bit shocked by the rather unreasonably high prices - but we ordered a coffee and chocolate cookies anyway; only to be told by a truly pissed-off waitress that we had to order more to stay which we found very odd indeed. When we pointed out that we were not too hungry really, we were told to leave. Quite an experience! Don't go - this place is the worst rip-off I have experienced since I came to London in 2004.
The rudest women I have ever met!
The manager of this cafe is the rudest women I have ever met!

I very much regret recommending to my family that we should meet up at this sweet looking cafe, for our day out in London. When my Grandmother and I arrived early, we sat at a lovely table by the window. Having ordered our coffee and croissants, we were advised that we were not spending enough money to sit at their 'best' table. Not wanting to cause a fuss, I proceeded to order some mince pies to bulk out our order. Completely out of the blue the manager then proceeded to come to our table and demand that we 'get out' as we were being a nuisance (!)

After trying my very best to discover how we had been a nuisance, we finally decided to leave and wait outside for the rest of our family.

A few minutes later this outrageous women stormed outside and announced she was calling security to get my 75 year old grandmother and I 'removed'! She then proceeded to photograph us with her mobile phone through her window!

This woman is clearly far more concerned about making money than creating a warm, friendly and sustainable business.

We ended up having our coffee in a delightful place called 'Best Italian' next to Neal's Yard Dairy.

Rude, rude, rude
Reading the forum below was both enlightening and somewhat conforting. I had thought that somehow we had done something terribly wrong, but it seems we are not alone in the rude treatment we received from both staff and owner. The owner's attitude has obviously been the same for at least the last 4 years and not improved. She has obviously still been able to run the business in this way, HOWEVER how much better could she be doing if she changed this attitude and actually respected the customer and her staff!?!
