Just average
This tapas bar is average. It is very popular because of its location near theatres but the service is poor and the food is also not great. When I asked the barman for a glass of wine he told me to relax. The judias verdes dish is good as are the calamares, but beware the pimientos padron. I nearly choked on the hottest chilli I have ever had - and the peppers in this dish are not supposed to be hot at all. Also it was outrageously expensive!!
Had a high, now on a low
Too crowded, food microwaved or done in deep fat frier. Service very bad. I suggest Brindisa near London Bridge instead. Much better quality food etc.
Sub-standard tapas
had dinner here on Saturday night. the food and service were both disappointing- standards have dropped in the last year or two.
tables crammed together dont make for comfort and lighting is too bright and unflattering. we sat waiting for longer than you should before ordering but no one asked us if we wanted a drink. the food when it came was a real let down. no doubt about it the microwave was working overtime. soggy patatas bravas, luke warm albodigas (needed 30 seconds more in the panasonic methinks) and very dry and rock hard tuna croquettes. the spanish omelette was tepid and flavourless.

for better tapas try the nearby Mar i Terra (comparable on price, better food and service) or Brindisa at Borough Market (pricy but top quality in every respect). Both have left tired old meson don filipe standing.

Great party atmosphere
Called from Cardiff to the old vic and then to Meson Don Felipe for my partners birthday and met some friends from Twyford and Royal Tumbridge Wells.

Had a great time and good food, Paloma the waitress was fantastic.

Keep your hands out of the soap Paloma?

Too Successful?
Good tapas but difficult to get a table and these are too close together for private chat/comfort. Get a high table on the side if you can but then watch out for staff hurtling about. Too successful?
