Having been a regular at Chez Jules in Birmingham many years ago (one of the owners' other venues), I was looking forward to visiting Platform.

We went for dinner last night. The service was great, they serve late, and the food was fine. The set menu is very good value.

And their bottled beer comes from a place on Druid Street. I can thoroughly recommend the porter I had for dessert.

Called into the new Platform bar/restaurant last night for a drink. A very smart new bar over 2 floors with a good selection of beers on tap, white by the glass etc. A welcome addition to the SE1 scene...

The only slightly negative comment: why use those metal measuring cup things when pouring a glass of wine - it creates the impression of being very mean ! Surely the staff are capable of knowing how much to put in a glass !

If you're starting with the main reason to go to a restaurant, then the food here is properly really good. Fairly typical gastro-pub type food, but very well done, the puddings are ace, and the prices v reasonable given where it is. I think the guys who set this up have some other places in Birmingham, so it's definitely not an amateur show. On the other hand, the serving staff seem so excited to be there that they can be a bit of a shambles. Still, early days, and you certainly won't leave feeling empty.
