Gone are the traditional booths, red carpet and the water feature. The restaurant is welcoming and a modern dining room is tastefully decorated with a bohemian feel.
The food is not the usual curry house fair but not to modern to put you off. My dish a keralan coastal cod special aptly described by the waiter was everything I could have hoped for. Well presented in a banana leaf boat with a cone of lemon rice, I was pleasantly surprised.
Even though I was dining on my own, I was made to feel welcome and no doubt I will be returning next month when I visit the area again.
We paid a return visit earlier this week to check that it wasn't a one-off and I'm pleased to say that it was just as good. They were happy to fit us in without any booking and the service was as good as ever despite the large office xmas party groups. The food covers all the traditional items you'd expect to find plus a good selection of more unusual dishes for the adventurous. I can recommend the king prawn pallak, the asian-style lamb special and the onion rice in particular!
Look forward to trying their takeaway service over the festive break...
