Southwark Council stands to gain a windfall of between £65 million and £100 million for its plans to build new council homes if proposals to construct nearly 500 luxury flats next to Blackfriars Bridge are approved.
The Manna Centre in Melior Street, which provides food, clothing and advice for homeless people, says demand for its services has increased sharply in recent months.
Labour Party leader Ed Miliband has written to Lord Rothermere to complain that a reporter from the Mail on Sunday turned up uninvited at a private event at Guy's Hospital on Wednesday.
