The presentation was made during the fifth annual SE1 Sports Day in Archbishop's Park on Tuesday.

"Jack Petchey is a self-made millionaire who decided to invest in young people and organisations that help young people" said Anna Clark who came from the Foundation to hand over the cheque. "SE1 is a fantastic example of this. It helps young people make their mark on the community as this event demonstrates quite well."

The ceremony was followed by the presentation by the Mayor of Southwark Cllr Angela Meader of Jack Petchey Achievement Awards. The SE1 United winners were chosen by their fellow members.

The Waterloo-based youth group was founded to give a voice and positive image to young people of the area aged 4 to 16.
