Former Crystal Palace, Wolves and England midfielder Geoff Thomas visited the London Nautical School in Stamford Street on Tuesday to receive money raised in memory of a former pupil.
The former footballer was presented with a cheque by year 10 student Liam Nolan for continued research into Leukaemia and Lymphoma.
Geoff himself contracted the disease in 2003 and since then has been a patron of the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research charity.
The school has already raised more than £4,000 for the charity in memory of former pupil Nathan Teklebrhan who died in May.
Pupils and staff continue to raise money and awareness of this illness.
