Borough Market is hosting one of five Streetscape Carousels dotted around London during the Olympic Games.
The carousel includes images from Borough Market and its environs including Southwark Cathedral, the Shard, the Hop Exchange and Tower Bridge.
The selected buildings and structures of different scales are collaged together to form a silhouetted wrapped around the inside of a cylindrical drum which is raised up on legs.
At night, a central light illuminates the silhouette from the inside, projecting the silhouetted streetscape in light and shadow back onto its surroundings.
By turning a crank, the layer of silhouettes can be made to rotate animating the shadows across the surfaces of the urban space in which it rests.
"Borough Market is delighted to be hosting a Streetscape Carousel," says Keith Davis, managing director of the market.
"With the market open seven days a week throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games there is ample opportunity for people to come and connect with this fantastic installation showcasing Borough Market's unique place within the SE1 landscape."
