Tesco has revealed plans to open small supermarkets close to Southwark and Lambeth North tube stations.
Nearby residents have received letters from the supermarket chain about its plans to turn the Costcutter store at 3-11 The Cut into a Tesco Express shop.
Just over 600 metres away in Baylis Road Tesco has submitted applications to Lambeth Council relating to the opening of a Tesco Express store in the new development at the corner of Murphy Street.
The proposed Tesco Express in The Cut is less than 300 metres from the existing store in Great Suffolk Street.
Sainsbury's is also due to open convenience stores in Great Suffolk Street and Blackfriars Road in the coming months.
