Dr Andrew Gower has been appointed as the new principal of Morley College, in succession to Ela Piotrowska.
Ela Piotrowska announced her retirement from the adult education college in Westminster Bridge Road a year ago.
Dr Gower joins Morley from East Kent College where he was vice principal, responsible for leading the curriculum and overseeing the expansion of the college across three campus locations.
He taught music at Canterbury College, Kingston University and Canterbury Christ Church University, specialising in electroacoustic composition and studio production.
Between 2007 and 2011 Dr Gower was Director of Canterbury Christ Church University's Broadstairs campus.
"I am delighted to join Morley College and to become part of this exciting learning community," said Dr Gower.
"During this 125th anniversary year since Morley was founded we continue to celebrate the many successes of the past whilst now creating our future.
"I very much look forward to working with students, staff and governors, with partners in Lambeth and Southwark, and our many stakeholders, to consolidate and develop the college's inspirational opportunities for adult learning that are transformative, both for the individual and the communities within which they live and work."
