Borough Market trader Ratan Mondal - who runs the Tea2You stall - brought the first flush of Darjeeling to Southwark Cathedral on Thursday to be blessed by the Dean of Southwark.
Mr Mondal travelled to the Darjeeling province in the foothills of the Himalayas last month where he produced tea from the first harvest – known as the first flush – of this year's crop.
Tea2You brought three bags of tea to Southwark Cathedral on Thursday where the dean, the Very Revd Andrew Nunn, presided at a short service of thanksgiving and blessing in the Harvard Chapel.

Mr Mondal recommends enjoying the tea without milk and without using a strainer.
Tea2You's shop is located in Three Crown Square at Borough Market.
