Proposals to open a branch of KFC next to Waterloo Bus Station at Tenison Way have won the unanimous backing of Lambeth's planning applications committee.
We reported in January on plans for the fried chicken restaurant in the railway arches and the scheme finally came before Lambeth's planning applications committee last week where councillors voted unanimously that permission should be granted.
The proposed restaurant and takeaway will have its main entrance on Mepham Street, but there will be a serving hatch facing Tenison Way where bus passengers can place and collect take-away orders.
The committee heard that staff will conduct eight litter picks per day to reduce the impact of litter generated by customers.
Delivery companies such as Just Eat or Deliveroo, will not be permitted to use the collection hatch.
Councillors imposed a condition on the planning permission to require KFC to consult with Bishop's ward councillors and South Bank Employers' Group in regard to managing queues outside the Tenison Way hatch.
