New measures to prioritise buses and cyclists on Tooley Street and Duke Street Hill have been published by Transport for London at the start of a two-month public consultation.
TfL says that its proposals are a temporary measure before longer-term plans are agreed.
The current scheme includes a 20 mph speed limit on Duke Street Hill and Tooley Street (west of Tower Bridge Road) and a mandatory westbound cycle lane to the north of London Bridge Station.
TfL also plans to make Duke Street Hill no entry, apart from cyclists and buses, from the London Bridge end.
Cars and vans leaving the side streets between Tooley Street and the river (Bridge Yard, Cottons Lane, Hay's Lane and Battlebridge Lane) will have to turn right towards London Bridge.
The plans for the western end of Tooley Street will complement the Cycle Superhighway 4 scheme which begins at Tower Bridge.
Further details of the plans are available on the TfL website; the closing date for responses is 8 January 2019.
The launch of TfL's proposals coincides with the launch of a new cycling strategy by business improvement district Team London Bridge.
