Waterloo's Calder Bookshop, also known as the Bookshop Theatre, has reopened.
The bookshop in The Cut closed earlier this year with the intention of relaunching in July. However, a proposed agreement with another bookshop partner was not concluded and the shop has remained closed all summer.
Founder John Calder was in the shop this week as shelves were being prepared for fresh stock by new staff. He intends being there as much as possible when not he is not in Paris where he writes.
At the book shop next month Lydia Syson will be launching her new book Doctor of Love: James Graham and His Celestial Bed and Tibor Fischer is giving a talk about his latest novel Good to Be God.
The weekly Thursday talks and readings are recommencing in October with an evening called Shakespeare's Greatest Speeches. One evening is devoted to John Calder's new poetry collection book Solo.
In November the Godot Company will be performing Samuel Beckett's Endgame prior to a tour of Ireland and the UK.
The Calder Bookshop is open Monday to Friday 10am to 6.30pm.
