Despite the rain seven teams from local businesses competed in the annual Better Bankside pancake race in Montague Close on Shrove Tuesday lunchtime.
This year the trophy – created for the competition by London Glassblowing – was won by the team from The Team, a communications agency based in Park Street.
The Team beat last year's winners from London Marathon HQ and competitors from other local businesses including Zipcar.
Pancakes were on sale in Cathedral Square at a kiosk run by Baxters.
The race was started by the Dean of Southwark, the Very Revd Colin Slee.
The pancake race raises money for the charity Paintings in Hospitals which runs the Menier Gallery in Southwark Street. Stuart Davie from PiH said that the proceeds would be used to buy a new print to add to the charity's hospice collection.
Better Bankside has organised the pancake race for the last four years. Businesses in the area are currently being balloted on whether the business improvement district should continue; the result is due later this month.
