Six men were arrested for immigration offences at off licences in Waterloo and Vauxhall during a joint operation on Tuesday involving the police, UK Border Agency and Lambeth Council.
PC Hannah Eldridge from Lambeth Police went out on patrol with colleagues from the UK Border Agency, Lambeth Council and Thames Reach as part of a joint initiative to tackle rough sleeping in the borough.
The task force visited shops in Waterloo and Vauxhall to ensure all employees had permission to work in the UK and to arrest those who did not.
Six men were arrested at local off licences for immigration offences and one male was taken into custody under the Mental Health Act due to fears for his safety.
PC Eldridge said: "We believe this operation was successful and will continue to promote a partnership approach in assisting rough sleepers while reducing crime in Lambeth."
