Gordon Ramsay's long-awaited Southwark restaurant will open in September says the chef - with backing from footballer David Beckham.
The Union Street Cafe – in Harling House at the corner of Union Street and Great Suffolk Street – has been three years in the making.
An alcohol licence was secured back in 2010 and planning permission for new glazing to replace the roller shutters of the former loading bay was granted last year.
Ramsay confirmed details of the venture in an interview with the Sunday Times this week. David Beckham has provided financial backing for the new restaurant where dinner will cost £25 to £30.
The restaurant is located on the main pedestrian route between Southwark Underground Station and Tate Modern at Bankside.
