Until recently the Winchester Walk car park housed market stalls displaced from Three Crown Square during construction of a new rail viaduct across the market.

Network Rail constructed a temporary roof over the yard which the market trustees recently received planning permission to retain for another five years.

Now – with Three Crown Square back in action – the Jubilee Market has been renamed Jubilee Place and is open as a short-stay public car park six days a week.

Managed by social enterprise WestawayCT, the car park includes two spaces for disabled drivers and four spaces for electric vehicle charging as part of the Source London network.

Parking costs £2 for a maximum of two hours.

The market says it remains committed to promoting the use of public transport and cycling by market visitors and that the new parking is designed for shoppers who may not be able to visit via public transport or who wish to make larger purchases.

The Jubilee Place car park is open:
• Mon-Wed 9.45am-3.15pm
• Thu 10.45am-5.15pm
• Fri 11.45am-6.15pm
• Sat 7.45am-5.15pm

The new service will also provide mobility scooter hire.
